──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Welcome to File_Handle (tm), the ultimate DOS file manager.
There are dozens of file managers on the shareware market alone, but
File_Handle is the one you really should try. Its quality is outstan-
ding, even compared to non-shareware programs like Norton Commander,
Qdos, PC-tools and Xtree.
Since File_Handle is a powerful program ─ it has many menus ─ don't
let that hold you back; you'll just need some time to find out that
File_Handle works easy and consistently, if you give it a chance. See
the file REVIEW.TXT and the chapter Tutorial in MANUAL.TXT, these will
help you on your way to a better computing future in just a few
minutes. File_Handle has special support for removable media such as
floppy disks, CD-ROM's, and the high-capacity Magnetic-Optic devices.
Print the file FH_QUICK.TXT to get a quick reference list, or press
HelpQ (Ctrl+F1) in the program.
There are Regular, Lite (low-cost), and Site licenses available. See
the file ORDER.TXT.
Thank you for considering a shareware product.
Arjen van Andel, Author.

===== Installation =====================================
This section describes:
- Short Installation Procedure
- Un-Installing the Program
- Short Program Instructions
- Mouse
══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════
Short Installation Procedure
────────────────────────────
If you want to install this program, but it didn't come with some sort
of menu driven installer, you can use the INSTALL.BAT program, or copy
the files directly to the directory of your choice.
You may have to extract the programs first with a de-archiver. Do this
in a temporary directory or on a floppy.
Then enter:
sourcedrive:INSTALL sourcedrive: destdrive: fhdirname
Example:
A:INSTALL A: C: FH (There is *NO* '\' between 'C:' and 'FH'!)
The directory 'FH' is created automatically if it does not exist.
Un-Installing the Program
─────────────────────────
Since File_Handle can be evaluated without any modifications to the
system, it can easely be removed from it too. Just delete all files
from the directory you installed it in, and remove the directory. You
can also 'uninstall' by removing the directory with File_Handle's own
RmDir command issued from a TREE window.
Short Program Instructions
──────────────────────────
- Tree-Depth
──────────
If you use File_Handle on the file systems which allow longer path
names than the old DOS standard of 64 plus drive letter, it is re-
commended that you don't use File_Handle in the deeper directories.
File_Handle is a DOS program, and cannot (yet) deal fully with the
longer path names, which may result in loss of data!
- Top-Menu (Alt)
────────
Hold down Alt, and enter a highlight from the Top-menu.
- Bottom-Menu (Alt+Space, Mouse: ■4 ... ■8)
───────────
The Bottom-menu works with function keys F1-F10, together with any
combination of Shift/Ctrl/Alt.
For easier control of this interface, press Alt+Space to open a menu
containing all combinations. Use Up- and Down-arrow keys to pick a
menu, and press the appropriate function key for the column.
- Pick lists or pop-up menus work with Alt+Letter and also Up- and
Down-arrow or the highlighted character followed by Enter.
- Use F3 to accept (most) commands, not Enter. Tab opens the window.
Mouse
─────
If you have a mouse, use it, it will make your life so much easier
while exploring File_Handle. All options can be controlled without the
keyboard (except entering names, dates and times).
Ordering
────────
The programs have a built in ordering system. Press Shift+F1 from the
main screen to purchase your copy, or see the file ORDER.TXT.
PS: See REVIEW.TXT for a quick first impression.

══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════
Distribution
Our normal distribution sequence is:
o New versions are offered to our registered users and are automati-
cally shipped to new registrants.
o Major revisions and new products are released through SDN/ADN and
the ASP and JCSM CD's. Also the CIS:ASPCD and CIS:PCUTIL forums on
CompuServe (use File Finders and search for FHD*.*), and the SiMTel
sites on the Internet; Use the search engines: http://www.yahoo.com
-or- http://vsl.cnet.com and look for FHD. You can also visit Hasoft
on the web at: http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/hasoft.
o All ASP distribution members are included in the regular ASPCD mail-
ing. This saves us both money and effort; if you are not an ASP ven-
dor or bulletin board member, please consider joining.
o I send copies of major revisions of this software to distributors
who have notified me of their interest.
If you are a shareware catalog house, send me a copy of the catalog
in which the program (will) appear(s), and ask for a copy of the la-
test revision of File_Handle.
If you run a bulletin board, contact me, and I will upload the most
recent revision.
If you are a CD-ROM publisher, please read the next section below.
Since all program copies are serialized according to whom they were
originally sent, we are able to track registrations by vendor. As long
as we receive registrations containing your number, we will continue
to provide you with updates for File_Handle.
══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════
CD-ROM Publishers
If you want to include File_Handle (tm) on a shareware CD-ROM, please
order the latest release directly from me, and consider including a
logfile in the root directory. This logfile *MUST* be constructed by
File_Handle; it has a proprietary format, and cannot be built easily
in any other way.
File_Handle CANNOT run from read-only media, it must be able to write
to the directory it starts from.
Remark: Be sure to fill in a UNIQUE VOLUME LABEL on the pre-image, or
else your CD-ROM will have no identifiable name for many pro-
grams! File_Handle, among others, needs it to positively iden-
tify one CD-ROM from another. Its also a quick way to detect a
media change. Use File_Handle's Label command (Ctrl+Shift+F4)
to see the volume label. (WARNING: This could be the label of
the drive with the pre-image, see 'Z' below).
File_Handle uses the volume label and the Volume Table Of Con-
tents (VTOC) to positively identify one CD-ROM from another.
Please make sure each CD-ROM is unique. File_Handle will use
the same FH_#xxxx.LOG file for all disks with equal labels and
VTOC's. This is true only if the CD-ROM does not have its own
FH_@.LOG in its root.
Constructing a logfile containing a directory tree basically consists
of the following simple steps:
A - Install File_Handle on harddisk in a directory *NOT* in the pre-
image, by just unarchiving the packed distribution file (if no un-
packed version is on it). Or run it from a floppy.
B - Go to the directory where File_Handle is located, and run FH.EXE.
C - Press "Drive" (is F4, but may need Escape to reset bottom menu).
D - Choose the drive containing the CD-ROM pre-image.
E - Press Tree (F7) to construct the logfile. If the logfile already
exists, BETTER BE SAFE THAN SORRY AND REBUILD THE TREE BY PRESSING
Build (Ctrl+F4) to log any LAST-MINUTE modifications.
F - Go back to the drive and directory where you started File_Handle
by pressing Drive (F4). Locate a file named "FH_d.LOG" ('d' is the
drive the pre-image is on) or, if the pre-image is on a removable
"FH_#xxxx.LOG" in this directory. Check if the time and date are
current!
G - After you are sure there is no other file with this format, rename
it using Alt+R to FH_@.LOG, and copy or move (Alt+C or M) it to
the ROOT directory of your CD-ROM pre-image.
H - Now log other drives and look at their trees. Log the pre-image
once again, and make absolutely sure the tree shows the correct
CD-data. (WARNING: You will *NOT* see the FH_@.LOG from the pre-
image here, unless the pre-image is on a removable drive! (remova-
ble to you may not mean removable for DOS (and File_Handle)))
Please Read This:
If the pre-image you produced is NOT AN EXACT copy of the CD-ROM, ex-
tra steps are needed. The goal here will be to let File_Handle con-
struct a directory tree starting from the subdirectory where the pre-
image starts. This can be accomplished by simply SUBSTITUTING this
'root' directory to an unused driveletter.
This may include the following steps:
X - To create extra empty driveletters, you may need to add the follo-
wing line to your CONFIG.SYS. 'F' below can be any letter from
'A' - 'Z'. DOS' default is 'E'. You may need to use another letter
if 'F' is already used. Reboot after this modification.
lastdrive = F:
Y - Type the following command to link the pre-image to the new drive
letter. Again, you may need to use another letter if 'F' is used
already. It is assumed here that your pre-image is called PREIMAGE
and is on drive D:.
subst F: D:\PREIMAGE
Z - Follow the procedure from A to C above. The new drive "F:" will be
the root of your-soon-to-be CD-ROM, and File_Handle will accept it
as such. To create a valid volume label, you might temporarily
have to rename the volume label of the drive containing the pre-
image. Use FH's Ctrl+Shift+F4 to do so.
If any problems arise, I'll be happy to help you with this. If e-
nough interested parties contact me, I will construct an automated
logfile builder. This will actively reduce many pitfalls.
Warning: Do not use a copy of File_Handle from the pre-image for the
construction of the log file or other tasks; this will result
in putting a MODIFIED copy of File_Handle on the CD-ROM.

Package Description
First Release : April first, 1995 (Version 0.99)
Description : File_Handle. <ASP> - File & Program manager.
There are Lite and Regular versions of File_Handle.
The Lite versions lack network support, limit win-
dows to 500 entries, have only 10 free ARF links,
and no printed manual.
File_Handle is a professional File and Program Mana-
ger for IBM-PC compatibles running MS-DOS compatible
operating systems, as long as the program paths are
kept within DOS' standard length of 64 characters.
File_Handle Regular supports most networks too.
It is basically a side-by-side display File and Pro-
gram Manager, designed to be the back-bone of a ver-
satile utility, for everyone who has to do serious
file management on small or large systems, including
networks and various removable drives.
(See the section below for a long description)
File_Handle is different to other managers because:
o It has its own wildcard system that allows for
embedded wildcards. This will, for instance, loca-
te files on a given substring either at the start,
end, or in the middle of a filename.
o Its built in Finder locates any file on any para-
meter on any drive or set of drives in the system.
o File_Handle's Finder can do a (SYSTEM-WIDE!) copy,
move, rename, set or reset Attributes, erase, etc.
etc. The finder can load or save finder scripts.
o It has powerful Compare/Select and Rename options.
o It supports removable media like CD-ROM and MO
drives.
o It can break out of any ongoing activity, and can
return to DOS from any position without closing
any menus first.
o It can remove Read-Only attributes from a complete
directory or a complete branch of a tree. This is
a valuable feature when copying programs from a
CD-ROM to harddisk.
o It has a Security-erase option for files and for
free diskspace.
o It shows all activity directly on screen; no sin-
gle redraw after a long period of activity without
feedback.
o It has superb mouse control. Any option can be
controlled by the mouse.
o It has flexible logfile control, no rescanning of
removable media necessary after exchanging media.
o It features media exchange control. Inadvertently
exchanged (or NOT exchanged, after such request)
disks will be detected.
o It sorts on any field.
o It directly renames or sets attributes on a set of
one or more files. (Also in the Finder).
o It detects most types of media and free space on
them.
o It keeps track of copied/moved files so they can
be erased or moved back when a wrong destination
is chosen.
o It handles external commands by way of an Associa-
tive Response File. You can tell File_Handle which
program(s) to use when you click on a certain file
name or file type. Think editors/viewers/unarhi-
vers, sound players, etc, etc.
o All menu systems and inputfields remember their
previous input.
o The tree window shows directory totals.
o It can shell from ANY menu or prompt.
o Can still copy/move/erase/rename/... a single file
without loosing an already made selection.
o It adds, shows, edits and removes volume labels.
o Menu doesn't close at every intermediate command.
o The executer rescans the current directory, and
flags any new files and subdirectories, after a
program launch.
o More, and much more to come...
══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════
Additional Catalog Texts
o It's,... File_Handle (tm), The Ultimate File & Program Manager
o One of those utilities you'd miss if it wasn't there anymore.
o Quickly find that file of a certain date, created between 11:00 am
and..
o Where are those huge files, gobbling up diskspace?
o Which directory contains so much data I can't run my applications
anymore?
o Where are the duplicates (if any) of this file..
o Which directory holds the most recent copies of these 1000 files?
o Is this directory a duplicate of another? Which files are newer?
o Didn't this misplaced data file have a 'D' in its name somewhere?
At the first position?.. or at the end,.. or two from the end?
Ever wondered about those programs that let you find one or more
files and then don't offer much more than a view? Then íf and whén
you find them (they offer only limited search options) you can't re-
name, copy or move them. Don't even think about things like inspect-
ing or changing attributes.
Today, a typical computer system holds about 300-500 directories, and
perhaps 5000-10000 files. Corporate servers typically can hold 5,000-
10,000 directories, and more than 100,000 files.
The high numbers set the stage for total chaos if your disks are not
properly maintained. It seems as if files wander over the disk(s),
replicating themselves from one mutation to the next. This is the
first of two reasons why people need bigger harddisks, the other is
Windows (tm). At a certain point in time the user can no longer keep
track of it all without assistance.
There are numerous copies, forgotten temp-files, never removed files
from achives which are rarely used, all taking up space, both for the
unarchived files and the archive. There are .BAK files you never
thought existed, also there are .OBJ, .MAP, .LST, .BAT files, etc.
There is archived material you thought you'd thrown away, a directory
with 500 fonts and you only use Courier and Times....
How easy is it to loose or misplace a file when there are so many
scattered all over the place? How can anyone find something, e-
specially when you're not sure EXACTLY what it is you're seeking?
This is why File_Handle (tm) was (and still is) developed. It offers
ways to get you out of the mess.
The built in Finder will locate specific files for you, on any drive,
on any set of drives. Even if you only know one or two letters of its
name, no matter if those letters are at the beginning, in the middle,
or at the end. Even if you only know its size. Even if you only re-
member which week you modified it last.
The search and restriction parameters you supply will present a hit-
list from which you can eliminate (hide) the unlikely ones until you
end up with the one you where after (if it still exists).
This list can be sorted in any way you like, file contents viewed or
edited, obsolete files deleted, mutants copied, moved or renamed. All
by merely clicking the mouse. Almost all the power from File_Handle's
file manager is available to the Finder. You can divert your atten-
tion to the problem you are solving, not how to work the program;
reading documentation, scanning the index, etc.
File_Handle's high level of consistency helps you do your job more
quickly and efficiently.
"Change the odds to your advantage by using File_Handle (tm) for your
day-to-day work"

Definition of Shareware
Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software before
buying it. If you try a Shareware program and continue using it, you
are expected to register. Individual programs differ on details, some
request registration while others require it, some specify a maximum
trial period. With registration, you get anything from the simple
right to continue using the software to an updated program with prin-
ted manual.
Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software, and
the copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific excep-
tions as stated below. Shareware authors are accomplished programmers,
just like commercial authors, and the programs are of comparable qua-
lity. (In both cases, there are good programs and bad ones!). The main
difference is in the method of distribution. The author specifically
grants the right to copy and distribute the software, either to all
and sundry or to a specific group. For example, some authors require
written permission before a commercial disk vendor may copy their Sha-
reware.
Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software. You should
find software that suits your needs and pocketbook, whether it's com-
mercial or Shareware. The Shareware system makes fitting your needs
easier, because you can try before you buy. And because the overhead
is low, prices are low also.
The author places a trust on you, and expects you to be honest and pay
if you are going to use it after the evaluation period.
Shareware has the ultimate money-back guarantee, if you don't use the
product, you don't pay for it.
══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════
What is an Unmodified Copy
An UNMODIFIED copy can be found on the diskette you'll receive after
registering. Don't copy *YOUR* registration key file FH_NAME.CNF; in-
side the archive is FH_PARMS.CNF, the shareware version of that file.
It is sufficient to copy the large archived file starting with 'FHD',
to have an UNMODIFIED working copy to hand out to your friend(s).
An UNMODIFIED copy is also the archived file you download from a BBS,
an information service; find at a software vendor or user group; on a
CD-ROM; or (should) get from a friend.
An UNMODIFIED copy can also be the complete disk with UNarchived files
you get from some vendors or user groups. They put unarchived files
on their disks to make the software more accessible to users who are
uncomfortable with archives. In this case, You may give away copies of
the whole shareware distribution diskette.
A MODIFIED copy is a copy which has been started at least once. This
starts the internal timekeeping. The receiver (your friend) shall un-
willingly be violating the copyrights before his evaluation period has
even started.
If you want to upload File_Handle to a BBS, and you've got your copy
from an information service like CompuServe; you have an archive with-
out any reference to the version number. Please rename the UNMODIFIED
archive to 'FHDnnn.*', where 'nnn' is the version number without the
decimal point. i.e. FHD.ZIP becomes FHD110.ZIP for version 1.10.
On the other hand, if you want to upload your FHDnnn.ZIP to an infor-
mation service like Compuserve, please rename the archive first so the
filename does *not* contain the version number. i.e. FHD110.ZIP beco-
mes FHD.ZIP. Remember that Hasoft will upload new updates to the big-
ger services also, so check first if the archive is already available.

General License Terms
The attached VENDINFO data record is hereby incorporated by reference.
Any distribution satisfying all the distribution requirements expres-
sed in that data record is hereby authorized. Vendors and sysops can
use the Vendprcs program to extract the specifics from VENDINFO.DIZ.
Individuals are hereby granted permission to make *EVALUATION* copies
of the original *UNREGISTERED* program File_Handle to give to anyone.
You are *PROHIBITED* to pass on MODIFIED copies of File_Handle; copies
of the registration key file FH_NAME.CNF; and the other extra files
that are distributed only with the registration package.
All Hasoft's software and accompanying documentation is protected by
the Copyright laws of the Netherlands and by International Treaty pro-
visions.
All rights not expressly granted in this document, are reserved by the
Author.
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Time Limiting
An unregistered version of File_Handle uses small delays, to make sure
you see certain messages. It also uses reminder screens that keep the
user aware that File_Handle is NOT a free program. After the evalua-
tion period has expired, File_Handle will remain *fully* functional,
but it will limit the intake of keyboard/mouse operations to about 3-4
per second, and will put in a delay for each overrun for an amount of
time proportional to the number of uses and total time in-use. Regis-
tration of File_Handle will provide means to remove *all* limiting.
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Limited Functionality
The unregistered Regular versions of File_Handle restrict the number
of files and directories to 500 per window and free ARF-links to 10.
The Lite versions, registered or not, restrict the number of files and
directories to 500 per window, have no support for networks, and have
no printed manual (the online help should suffice here). Lite versions
are economic or low-cost hobby versions.
After ordering, you'll receive a copy with the appropriate limitations
removed. Fill out the order form in the program; just press Shift+F1
from the main screen. If you are just reading this info from outside
the program, see the file ORDER.TXT for more information.
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Free Evaluation License
See Disclaimer - Agreement section, it applies to this license too.
You are automatically granted a free license to evaluate this product
for THIRTY DAYS. After that period you either stop using this program,
or register it. See the registration screen (Shift+F1 in main screen)
and the files REGISTER.TXT, ORDER.TXT, and also below for details.
You are encouraged to pass a free copy of File_Handle along to your
friends for evaluation. Please encourage them to register their copy
if they find that they can use it. Quality shareware cannot be produ-
ced without support from many users.
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Single-user and Group Licenses
See Disclaimer - Agreement section, it applies to this license too.
The registration fee will license one copy for use on any one computer
at any one time. You must treat this software just like a book. An ex-
ample is that this software may be used by any number of people and
may be freely moved from one computer location to another, so long as
there is NO POSSIBILITY of it being used at one location while it's
being used at another. Just as a book cannot be read by two different
persons at the same time.
All registering users will receive a copy of the latest version of the
program and a printed manual.
The registered version has YOUR NAME on the main screen, shows no re-
minder screens, and doesn't have the small delays. Also you have one
full year of free technical support.
The license is for internal use only, you may not hand out, lease or
sell copies of the program with your name on it, and you may not sell
or lease copies of the shareware version. You may, however, GIVE away
*UNMODIFIED* copies (from the distribution diskette) of the program,
*WITHOUT* the file FH_NAME.CNF.
See Policy on Future Versions below.
See Support Policy below.
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Site or Server License
See Disclaimer - Agreement section, it applies to this license too.
The registration fee will license you (your company) to use as many
copies of the software at that single site - or, in case of a server,
the number of workstations on that single server - as you (your com-
pany) registered for.
If you (your company) has more sites or servers, you need a license
for each separate site or server.
The license is for internal use only, you (your company) may not hand
out, lease or sell copies with your company name on it, and you may
not sell or lease copies of the shareware version.
You (your company) however, may GIVE away UNMODIFIED copies (from the
distribution diskette) of the program, WITHOUT the file FH_NAME.CNF.
Choose 'Site' license in the registration screen (Shift+F1 in the main
screen), and pick the appropriate number of systems.
The registered version has YOUR COMPANY NAME on the main screen, shows
no reminder screens, and doesn't have the small delays. Also you have
one full year of free technical support.
You will receive a single copy of the latest version of the program
and a number of printed manuals. You (your company) takes care of ma-
king copies for the requested number of systems, or place it on a ser-
ver connected with the requested number of workstations.
Individual users of your company are NOT to place support calls to Ha-
soft. You (your company) appoints a supervisor, who will resolve any
internal problems. ALL SUPPORT calls to Hasoft has to go through this
'Contact'. So include the name and telephone number of this person.
See Policy on Future Versions below.
See Support Policy below.
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Vendor or BBS License
Anyone distributing File_Handle for any kind of remuneration must
first contact the Author for authorization. Use the Vendprcs program
to extract the specifics from VENDINFO.DIZ.
This authorization will be automatically granted to distributors re-
cognized by the <ASP> as adhering to its guidelines for shareware dis-
tributors and to BBS's, and such distributors may begin offering
File_Handle immediately (However Hasoft must still be advised so that
the distributor can be kept up-to-date with the latest version of the
program, and a unique vendor code can be assigned to the distributor).
You may not ask any compensation for the software itself, only for the
distribution service you provide.
As an authorized shareware distributor, you have permission to distri-
bute our shareware in its original electronic form.
Directly following 'Installation' is the VENDOR section. It has a few
paragraphs about Vendors, BBS's and CD-ROM publishers.
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
U.S. Government Information
Use, duplication, or disclosure by the U.S. Government of the computer
software and documentation in this package shall be subject to the re-
stricted rights applicable to commercial computer software as set
forth in subdivision (b)(3)(ii) of the Rights in Technical Data and
Computer Software clause at 252.227-7013 (DFARS 52.227-7013).
══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════
Support Policy
One full year of free technical support comes with registering.
What ever you do, don't pick up the phone to make a support call befo-
re at least taking some effort to solve the problem yourself by first
reading the manual and the files MANUAL.TXT, FH_QUICK.TXT and, if it's
there, the file FH_NEWS.TXT.
It's not Hasoft's responsibility to learn you how to work with DOS or
WINDOWS, format and partition a harddisk, create backups or subdirec-
tories. Visit or join a local computer club for such problems, they're
always happy to help fellow computerists.
It's not even Hasoft's responsibility to learn you File_Handle's keys
and mouse controls, how to copy a file, rename a directory. You can
find all those features described in the accompanying support files
mentioned above. FH_QUICK.TXT contains all relevant keyboard and mouse
codes; print this file to get a quick-reference list. File MANUAL.TXT
describes installation and setup procedures for special modes of
operation, should you need them; look up chapters Installing and
Configuring File_Handle.
Hasoft will of course offer support for File_Handle-related PROBLEMS.
On the other hand, if you really don't understand something in the
program or the documentation, it could be a program or documentation
bug. I sure would like to know about it, in that case.

Policy on Future Versions
Your lifetime registration license applies to the MAJOR version you
receive after you register. You need to register again when you want
to use a next major X.xx release, for which registered users are offe-
red a substantial discount. (Hasoft sometimes offers free MAJOR upgra-
ding)
All versions with a higher MINOR version number (.xx, bug fixes, etc.)
can be freely shared and/or up/downloaded to/from any BBS.
The key file FH_NAME.CNF you receive after registering will be valid
within the MAJOR version, up to and including X.99. This FH_NAME.CNF
file and the goodies are for registerants only, and may *NOT* be free-
ly distributed!
Hasoft cannot be obligated to distribute future releases for free to
registered users. Users can get a free upgrade from CompuServe forums
PCUTIL LIB 5 and ASPCD LIB 19; your local BBS; from the SimTel site on
the Internet. Look for the filename FHD*.*. Your registration key file
FH_NAME.CNF converts the (minor) upgrade into a registered version.

===== About VENDINFO Files =============================
Each VENDINFO.DIZ file contains extensive information about a product.
This "human-readable" section is followed by a compressed data record
useable by automated tools. The data record allows BBSes and other
distributors to automate package handling, and provides users with a
wealth of product information. VENDINFO tools (free viewer for users,
free or inexpensive processors for distributors, editors for authors)
are available from many BBSes, disk vendors, and other sources.
